Four Ways to a Younger Face
- Posted on: May 15 2019
No one is immune to the aging of their facial skin and underlying support tissues. To counter the march of time, facelifts have long been a staple of the cosmetic surgery universe. But, despite their name, facelifts really only address the mid- to lower face down to the chin. They don’t rejuvenate the entire face.
That leaves our forehead with sagging brows making us look tired or angry all the time. That leaves banding on our neck skin. And facelift procedures need to be careful not to give the patient a stretched look because they can’t naturally get the skin to tighten through the production of new collagen and elastin.
That’s why Dr. Michelle Cabret-Carlotti and Dr. Albert Carlotti developed a more extensive procedure — the four-dimensional facelift. These proprietary procedures combine a facelift with a neck lift, endoscopic brow lift, and laser skin resurfacing. The four-dimensional facelift truly addresses your entire face!
What are the Benefits of a Four-Dimensional Facelift?
A better question could be, “Who has facial aging that only happens in the cheeks and lower face?” No one. Drs. Carlotti, by combining a facelift, neck lift, brow lift, and skin resurfacing into a single surgical session, give the patient full facial rejuvenation with just a single recovery. It’s as if you came in for the procedure and woke from the anesthesia afterward 10 to 15 years younger.
How is the Four-Dimensional Facelift Done?
Drs. Carlotti works together on these procedures, making for a shorter session. The patient is placed under general anesthesia.
For the facelift, several small incisions are made along the hairline in front of the ears and then down around the earlobes ending in the hairline in the back. These incisions allow access to reposition sagging skin and support tissue. The fat pads on the cheeks are usually moved upwards, and the underlying muscle structure is adjusted for a higher, younger-looking, natural result.
For the brow lift, small incisions are made in the hairline mostly around the top of the scalp. An endoscope is inserted through one of the small incisions to provide visuals under the skin. Then Drs. Carlotti insert small tools through the other incisions to lift the forehead skin and tighten the underlying muscles. The goal is to return the brows to their former higher elevation.
For the neck lift, small incisions are made behind the ears and possibly under the chin. This provides access to bring the neck skin upward. This not only tightens the neck skin, but also removes neck banding.
The final aspect is laser skin resurfacing. When the laser energy is delivered across your skin it penetrates the epidermis and converts to heat in the dermis layer. The body senses heat in the dermis and assumes there has been a wound. It responds by producing new amounts of collagen and elastin to “heal” the perceived wounds, even though there aren’t any actual wounds. This tightens the skin naturally from beneath, and is the perfect complement to the three surgical procedures.
