You’re Not Mad; You Just Need a Brow Lift

Brow Lift Lakeway, TXPeople use facial cues to interpret communication. This is especially true of the area around your eyes because the eyes are the focal point of the face. The position of your brows can give the impression that you’re very tired or even angry when you’re actually anything but.

Sagging brows are a result of years of repeated facial expressions such as squinting, frowning, and smiling. These expressions and the muscles they activate when making them all work to pull your brows downward. Throw in sun damage, the unending pull of gravity, and the natural loss of muscle tension in the area and your brows become saggy. Creases form between your eyebrows (the dreaded 11s) and the heavy brow skin pushes your eyelid skin lower, giving you a hooded appearance.

If this sounds at all like your situation, it may be time for a brow lift at Austin Cosmetic Surgery. A brow lift will remove the sagging, and we use endoscopic methods that make this a much easier procedure than it once was.

Who can use a brow lift?

Proper brow position is critical for beautiful eyes but often we don’t realize the degree our brows have descended. Why? Because when we look in the mirror most of us subconsciously raise our eyebrows. A brow lift is a great procedure for patients who have sagging or low eyebrows. It’s a good answer for people with the 11s, and for those with deep lines on the forehead. During your consultation, Dr. Carlotti (Michelle or Albert) will show you how your brow position is affecting your outward demeanor, and how much it is aging your face.

Different methods of brow lifts

Prior to the development of endoscopes, a brow lift used what is known as the coronal method. This involved an incision that started in front of one ear, wrapped up around the forehead and ended at the other ear. This left a serious scar, could result in hair loss, and created significant numbness across the incision.

At Austin Cosmetic Surgery we have a better way. We use the endoscopic method, which involves four small incisions within the hairline on your forehead area and temple, along with two small incisions inside your mouth. Using an endoscope and a laser, we elevate and resuspend your forehead using materials that will eventually be absorbed and disappear completely. This surgery demands a certain artistic ability, combined with surgical skill, to create the balance needed for natural-looking results.
