Many patients choose Dysport as it achieves the smoothing effect faster than BOTOX , with results that last about four months, if not longer. If you are planning to attend a wedding, special event, reunion, or any important get-together, and want to look your best, you may not have seven days to wait for the results of BOTOX to appear. If this is you – Dysport could be the ideal injectable.

How is Dysport different?

Dysport has a slightly lower molecular weight than BOTOX, and integrates into the tissues slightly differently, as it is thinner. It is often used to treat larger areas, such as the forehead, as it spreads more evenly throughout the tissues, smoothing the creases and lines more thoroughly. It works to weaken the muscle actions when raising the brow, the cause of deeply etched horizontal forehead lines.

What is the treatment experience with Dysport?

Injections with Dysport take only minutes to complete, and are reasonably easy to experience, even without numbing. If you are sensitive, a numbing cream can be applied before your injections. You will be resting comfortably in our exclusive, state-of-the-art clinic during your treatment, and your injections performed with precision and the most advanced injection techniques. Once completed, you are free to return to your day, without any worries about recovery time.

What can Dysport treat?

Dysport can treat “dynamic” lines and creases – the wrinkles caused by facial muscle motions. The ideal outcome is a beautiful smoothing effect that does not impact your natural facial expressiveness, which requires a breadth of understanding of the product, how much to inject, and the muscle strands chosen for the injections. If you have formerly relied on BOTOX, but see the smoothing effect becoming less noticeable, you may want to switch to Dysport, as the slightly different formula may work better.

What is the recovery time?

You will have no real recovery time after injections with Dysport but may experience redness at the injection sites. You should not lie down for four hours or exercise the day of your injections. If you have minor bruising, it can be hidden with makeup. Do not touch or massage the areas treated as it could cause the product to spread to areas where it is not wanted.

For best results…

After your Dysport injections at Austin Cosmetic Surgery, following these rules will help you enjoy the results:

  • Avoid alcoholic beverages at least one day before and after your injections. Alcohol consumption can increase the risk of bruising.
  • Avoid any strenuous physical activities for a day following your treatment, as it can increase the risk of swelling or bruising and cause the product to migrate to other areas.
  • Avoid excessive heat, such as saunas, hot tubs, or direct sun for 24 hours.
  • Avoid any aggressive skin treatments for two days, such as skin scrubs or other treatments.
  • Don’t touch or massage the injection sites. Your skin has been punctured by  the needle, and you do not want to transfer bacteria to the area. Touching or massaging the injection sites could cause the product to move to other facial areas.
