Brazilian butt lift surgery – What is it?

A Brazilian butt lift is an outpatient procedure, using general anesthesia or intravenous sedation and local anesthesia. The process involves harvesting fat cells from a body area with an excess and transferring the fat to the buttocks to create lift and volume.

Brazilian butt lift – A four-step process

The procedure involves four steps:

  • Fat is removed from the hips, thighs, lower back, flanks, abdomen, and/or other selected areas of the body using liposuction.
  • The fat cells are cleansed and prepared for transfer.
  • The surgeon injects fat into specific areas on the buttocks to increase volume and revamp shape.
  • The fat is meticulously protected with special garments and pillows to allow the fat to revascularize and mature in the perfect position.

Dr. Michelle Cabret, our talented  and experienced cosmetic surgeon, will instruct you about specific easy exercises to perfect the gluteal complex to keep a smooth bottom that doesn’t sit against the posterior thigh over time.

What sets us apart?

Something that sets us apart from other surgeon’s offices is that we are very hands-on in post-operative care. Most patients are seen two to four times within the first two weeks of recovery and monitored personally throughout the healing process. For Dr. Michelle it is not so much about the procedure itself, but the people that we have met along the way, and seeing people delighted with their results. We provide a concierge level of service to our patients. From initial consultation to every other visit with us, we provide personal and comprehensive care.

What is the recovery time after a Brazilian butt lift?

Depending on the patient, there may be bruising and swelling in the area where fat cells were harvested, immediately following the procedure. This type of procedure requires some special modifications for postoperative recovery. Postoperative discomfort can be managed usually easily with oral pain medication. Patients are not allowed to sit or lie directly on the buttocks for about six to twelve weeks after a Brazilian butt lift.

Buttocks augmentation at Austin cosmetic surgery

It is critically important that an experienced cosmetic surgeon performs the procedure in a sterile and very meticulous fashion. The recent past President of the American Board of Plastic Surgery has been critical of surgeons that inject sub muscular or lower quadrants as senseless deaths have occurred from fat emboli.

It is always important to see your prospective surgeon’s results and speak to past patients. At Austin Cosmetic Surgery, we offer our patients the experience and health and safety protocols you can trust, with Brazilian butt lift performed in our state-of-the-art facility. We use only board-certified anesthesiologists for these procedures, and focus on patient health and safety, at every step of the process.
