What is Belotero?

Belotero is a hyaluronic acid (HA) filler used to treat fine lines and wrinkles in a way no other filler on the market can. Hyaluronic acid is a natural component of the human skin used to provide hydration and support to collagen and elastin fibers. Belotero is very versatile in the hyaluronic gel filler category because of its ability to fully integrate into the skin using its “cohesive poly-densified matrix” technology.

Who is a good candidate for Belotero?

An individual suffering from dark circles under the eyes from volume loss, superficial wrinkles and fine lines, and volume loss around the mouth and lips are great candidates for Belotero. The unique technology Belotero has allows it to be injected very superficially into very thin-skinned areas without any irregularities.

This is something that is not possible with other HA fillers on the market without the risk of discoloration called “the Tyndall effect” (a bluish tone appearing after injections), increased swelling, and varying types of skin irregularities. It is also used stacked on top of deeper fillers to “top off” fine lines and wrinkles.

What can Belotero treat?

The unique formulation of Belotero makes it an ideal filler for specific facial areas:

  • Lines and wrinkles
  • Under-eye bags
  • Forehead wrinkles
  • Smooths some types of acne scars
  • To plump or restore lip volume
  • Smooth smile lines
  • Add definition and volume to cheeks and jawline

Are treatments with Belotero painful, and is there any downtime?

Topical numbing is applied before treatment to minimize any discomfort from Belotero injections. Treatment usually takes about 30 minutes in the office, after which you are free to return to regular work or other activities. Downtime is minimal with redness, swelling, and bruising the most common side effects after treatment. Most of these effects should subside in three to seven days if they occur at all.

How long does Belotero last?

Each patient is different, duration times can vary depending on the patient and the area being treated. On average, the benefits of Belotero can last as long as nine months or as little as three months.

Belotero is truly an “integrative” filler that can hydrate and create subtle and beautiful results, but sometimes the integrative properties make it seem as though it disappears slightly faster than other fillers.

What is the recovery time after Belotero injections?

Belotero injections do not involve any downtime, and you are free to return to your usual schedule immediately after your treatment. Minor swelling or redness can be camouflaged with makeup after 24 hours. You should avoid excessive exposure to sun.

Belotero FAQ

Is Belotero like BOTOX?

What makes Belotero different from Juvéderm or other hyaluronic acid-based fillers?

How long will my Belotero treatments last?

Is Belotero like BOTOX?

BOTOX smooths facial lines with an entirely different process – BOTOX works to limit the nerve messages to overactive facial muscles that with constant motions, affect the skin surface, leaving it creased and with lines. Belotero works by filling the underlying skin tissue to plump the skin and subtly raise it to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles, without affecting facial motions or natural expressiveness.

What makes Belotero different from Juvéderm or other hyaluronic acid-based fillers?

Belotero was developed with a specialized process, allowing the filler to integrate into the skin tissues very smoothly. This filler is often the ideal injectable for areas of the face that are harder to treat, such as under-eye bags, as well as more common zones such as smile lines, frown lines, and marionette lines.

How long will my Belotero treatments last?

Typically, the smoothing results can last about six months or more, as your system naturally absorbs the filler, after which retreatment will be needed. However, in certain very active facial areas, the smoothing effect may not last as long. Every person is unique regarding the speed with which the body absorbs the filler.
